Fixture Installation Bountiful Homeowners Rely On

Right Way Plumbing handles fixture installation in Bountiful for everything from bathroom faucets and shower valves to toilets, hose bibs, and garbage disposals. Scott Rasmussen is a licensed plumber with 140 Google reviews averaging 4.9 stars, and he does the work himself. If a fixture is leaking, corroded, or simply outdated, the right call is to replace it correctly the first time rather than chase the same problem twice. Call (801) 821-3149 and we'll schedule service around your availability.

Fixture installation sounds straightforward until you're dealing with a 1960s Bountiful home with galvanized supply lines, mismatched valve sizes, or a bathroom layout that hasn't been touched since it was built. Those situations take real diagnostic work, not just a wrench. What drives cost on a fixture job is usually access (under a slab vs. an exposed crawlspace), the condition of existing supply stops, and whether the new fixture's connections match the rough-in dimensions already in the wall. A faucet swap in a newer construction takes less time than pulling a corroded shower valve in an older home that's never been serviced. Every job is different -- contact Right Way Plumbing for an accurate estimate.

Fixtures We Install and Replace Install

If it connects to a water supply line, we handle it.

Faucets

Kitchen, bathroom, and utility sink faucets. We match new fixtures to your existing rough-in, replace worn supply stops, and verify shutoff valves are functional before we leave.

Shower and Tub Fixtures

Shower valves, tub spouts, and diverters. Older Bountiful homes often have pressure-balance valves that are well past their service life. We replace the valve body and trim together.

Garbage Disposal

New disposal installs and replacements. We connect the drain correctly to prevent the off-level trap issues that send water back into the cabinet. See our garbage disposal repair page if yours just needs a fix.

Bathroom Fixture Packages

Full bathroom fixture upgrades: faucet, toilet, and shower valve in one visit. Scheduling everything together costs less in labor than three separate calls.

How It Works

How a Fixture Installation Goes

Every fixture job follows the same three steps. No surprises.

  1. Assess Before We Touch Anything

We check shutoff valves, supply line condition, and the existing rough-in dimensions. On older homes this step matters a lot -- a supply stop that hasn't moved in 30 years sometimes won't close fully, and we catch that before the fixture comes out.

  2. Install to Code, Test Under Pressure

The fixture goes in to current Utah plumbing code. We pressure-test supply connections before we button anything up. If a valve or supply line looks marginal, we tell you on the spot.

  3. Walk You Through the Work

Scott explains what was done, what he found, and whether anything else needs attention. No upsell if nothing needs it. If your water heater or shutoff valves are showing wear, you'll hear about it honestly.

Older Homes

What's Different in Bountiful's Older Housing Stock

  1. Galvanized Supply Lines

Galvanized pipe corrodes from the inside out. By the time the pressure drop is noticeable, the inside diameter is often half what it should be. We scope conditions before committing to a fixture swap in a home with original plumbing. If a leak repair turns up during the job, we handle it in the same visit.

  2. Non-Standard Rough-In Dimensions

Older Bountiful bathrooms sometimes have toilet rough-ins at 10 inches instead of the modern 12. Most manufacturers make both -- but you have to know to look. We measure before we order.

  3. Shutoff Valves That Won't Shut Off

A compression-style shutoff valve that hasn't been operated in 20 years often won't close fully when you need it to. We replace them at the same time as the fixture rather than leave a functional problem behind.

Fixture Installation Questions

Can you replace a fixture if the shutoff valve underneath won't close?
Yes, and this comes up often in Bountiful homes with original plumbing. We can shut off water at the main line, replace the shutoff valve first, then proceed with the fixture. It adds time, but skipping it leaves you with a valve that can't isolate the fixture in a future emergency -- which is a real problem.
How do I know if my shower valve needs replacement or just a new cartridge?
If the valve body is the original installation in a home built before the mid-1990s, the whole valve assembly is worth replacing rather than just the cartridge. Cartridges on worn valve bodies often leak again within a year or two. We'll tell you which situation you're actually in after we look at it.
What's the toilet rough-in dimension, and why does it matter for installation?
The rough-in is the distance from the finished wall to the center of the drain flange. Standard modern toilets are designed for a 12-inch rough-in. Some older Bountiful homes have 10-inch rough-ins. Installing a 12-inch toilet on a 10-inch rough-in leaves a visible gap at the wall. We measure before we recommend a replacement model.
Do you install customer-supplied fixtures, or do you provide the fixture?
We can install fixtures you supply. One thing to know: if a fixture you purchased turns out to be defective or incompatible with your rough-in, replacement and return is on you. When we source the fixture, we take responsibility for compatibility. Either way, we'll tell you upfront what will and won't work before anything gets opened.
How long does a typical bathroom faucet or shower valve installation take?
A straightforward bathroom faucet swap with functional shutoff valves runs 45 minutes to an hour. A shower valve replacement where the valve body needs to come out of the wall takes longer -- typically 2 to 3 hours, more if tile has to be cut or the existing valve is corroded into place. We give you a realistic time estimate before we start.
Should I replace all my bathroom fixtures at the same time?
Not necessarily -- but grouping a faucet, toilet, and shower valve into one visit does save on labor compared to three separate appointments. If multiple fixtures in a bathroom are original to the home and showing wear, doing them together makes sense. If one fixture fails and the others are fine, replace what's broken and monitor the rest.
